Forum: forums Subject: Connection Failed Error Message

Hi,

I am a member of www.vpforums.com
It vanished from the Net around 01-12-09, several days ago, and I receive the error message when trying to access the www.vpforums.com archive using The Wayback Machine. I was able to access it last week, but now it also seems to have vanished. It was archived though 2007, though strangely had no entries for 2008.

Are you having the same trouble with this archive?
Has this archive been removed by request of someone or has it been hacked? Are you experiencing server problems?

seriously, wayback machine seems to be out of working order now, so you have to wait a little. no entries from 2008 is normal, the site was most probably crawled during 2008, but the results are not public yet, they must become public within this year.

There are a couple of possibilities:

1. The owner could have put one of those dreaded textbot things in the code advising the wayback machine to not archive the site.

2. It was removed after a request.

3. It is still in limbo waiting to be archived, not sure how this works but there is a 6 month *minimum* time from the moment the magical archive spiders clone the page and time it shows up.

4. George Bush deleted it.

Many of our members are suspecting a hack of the forums.
The archive was available last week at this site and is still available on a European mirror of archive.org .

Then Tony Blair did it. That's weird.
